Buying Property in Sri Lanka can be a daunting task. If you are not a Sri Lankan national (SL passport holder) beware of the 100% property tax. But don't despair - there are legal ways around it. For example, you can buy an apartment above the sixth floor and tax is not payable.
There's also ways around the tax if buying or building a house...... If you want a new house or apartment I recommend Ceylinco (contact Dominic ). As well as undertaking property developments they act as realtors for existing properties. The other site I recommend is SynchroHomes

Here are a few pointers to information and resources I find useful or interesting. If there's things you feel should be here let me know.
If you are visiting the UK book your hotels, events and more through Lastminute . Another source of discounted hotels (UK and international) is Need-a-Hotel
London information can be found on This Is London and for news try The Times or the BBC. Museums I recommend in London include The Wallace Collection and the Tate Modern. For those of you with an interest in nature, a visit to the Botanical Gardens is a must.
If you like Greek food and company and incredible music (piano) I can highly recommend a visit to our friends Simon and Stacie. But be prepared to 'stuff your face' (Greek for 'eat huge quantities'). Simon was Best Man all those years ago when we married. Photo coming very soon! And no, they do not own a restaurant.
Step back in time to eat at the New Piccadilly (tel 0207 437 8530, 8 Denman St, London W1). It's just off Piccadilly Circus and is a 1950's (unchanged since then) Italian restaurant. The owner, Lorenzo, is a friend of a (crazy) Irish Priest friend of ours - Ivan Tonge (topic for my 'Ramblings' page one day). Take a look at this review. If you go there invite Lorenzo to your table for an intellectual discussion - but make sure you bring a bottle or ten (of strong wine)............
For (cheap) flights around Europe try Ryanair but don't expect the same inflight service as you would enjoy from my sister in Gulf Air!
For domain registration and webhosting (where this site sits) I recommend AFMU both on cost and service. It's US based. Go for the free hosting package.
You've heard of VoIP as an alternative to traditional phone service. I use Skype (now owned by EBAY). You can register and download (for free) the software from the icon on the left. Free calls to other Skype users and local rate to most destinations. To download the software go to the Skype home page.
If you like music and and have a good feeling for things Irish then you have to hear Michael McCarthy famous for his role as Javert in the musical Les Miserables in London's West End, China, Australia, New York, Singapore and more. Also a good friend and his wife, Stephanie, is the Godmother of our youngest.
